About Us

The Name.

It all started when I was driving a Mk2 Golf years ago. A friend of mine gave me a custom European licence plate that said "RUB A DUB." He drove a slammed Audi A4 at the time, and figured it would be more appropriate if I had it. Many people call their VWs “Dubs” for short because the W = Double-U, which becomes shortened to “DUB.” It is a common practice for enthusiasts to lower their car, which can leave the tires “rubbing” the fender. With those two terms, the term “RUBADUB” was coined. From that point on, it was decided the car blog would be called Rubadub Media. The Media was created in 2010 with the primary goal to engage audiences through daily blogging, photo sharing, and YouTube video publishing. Since then, Rubadub has been firmly established as a brand to include an online store that caters to car enthusiasts worldwide.

The Purpose.

To get other automotive enthusiasts—whether show car builders or gearheads that simply tinker in their garage during their free-time—NOTICED. We work tirelessly to showcase the community’s stunning automobiles (primarily VW models) and help them gain the recognition they deserve. With car owners worldwide, Rubadub is committed to bringing the VW community and other car enthusiasts closer together. As we continue to grow Rubadub and its sub-brand Miata Hub, we will produce more original content, offer exciting new products, and promote the wide variety of unique automotive builds that have yet to be seen.

Tuning is much more than a mechanical tinkering obsession—it is a way for individuals to express themselves. Each car is a one-off piece of art.
